Screw air compressor oil leakage, the cause must be found out first

A screw compressor's oil circuit system is tightly sealed, so oil leakage rarely occurs under normal operating conditions. However, leaks can develop if scheduled maintenance is delayed or an unexpected operational issue arises. Screw compressor oil leaks generally fall into three categories based on severity: slow oil seepage, faster oil dripping, and sudden oil injection. Regardless of the severity, none of these oil leak issues should ever be ignored.

Screw compressor oil leaks typically present in three forms: oil seepage, oil dripping, and oil injection. Each condition requires a specific troubleshooting and repair procedure based on the underlying symptoms. When an air compressor develops an oil leak, avoid rushing into random repairs. First identify the exact root cause of the leak, and then apply the proper corrective action.

For minor oil seepage, if the issue does not stem from complex mechanical defects but rather loose fittings, improper fastening, or elevated internal pressure, shut down the compressor safely and retighten all connecting parts and fasteners.

When dealing with oil dripping, the repair process is similar to resolving oil seepage, following comparable tightening and inspection steps. However, if deeper mechanical faults or component wear are involved, thoroughly diagnose and eliminate the root causes before resuming compressor operation.

Sudden oil injection in a screw air compressor is typically caused by a clogged oil cooler. Resolving this issue requires unclogging and cleaning the cooler assembly. To service the oil cooler, remove the cooler core, place it in an iron tank filled with water and descaling solution, and soak it for 1 to 3 days. Afterwards, retrieve the cooler core and gently clear the loosened scale from each tube using a soft copper wire.

While descaling the cooler core, thoroughly flush the entire compressor lubrication system. Connect the oil circuit piping to a mobile cleaning pump unit to create a closed circulation loop. This cleaning cart consists of a wheeled iron enclosure measuring over one square meter, allowing convenient mobility directly to the compressor. Fitted with a booster water pump and electric heating element, descaling agent is mixed with water in the tank. Engaging the pump circulates the descaling solution throughout the oil lines. After 1 to 3 days of circulation and soaking, sludge, scale, and contaminants are thoroughly removed.
